  • Pumping for speed – how and where to pump so you can gain ‘free speed’ whilst maintaining a balanced and strong body position
  • Line choice – choosing smooth and fast lines on the trail and learning the optimum speed to make trail features flow
  • Control on steep descents – staying in balance and maximising traction at very slow speeds
  • Advanced braking
  • Manuals and wheel lifts – where, when and how to use them to your advantage on the trail
  • Steps and safe drop-off techniques – total control in the trickiest of situations, at both high and low speed
  • Focus and flow – analysis of a full trail including how and when to use core skills and speed techniques to make the trail flow

At the end of day one, you’ll have a solid structure to your riding for long term development and improvement.  You’ll get the essential tool kit and expert help to meet your own riding goals, by dedicating time to improving your technique through coaching.

After a busy day on the bike we shall head over the road for a celebratory beer and hearty pub grub.

  • Two days riding guided by experienced guides
  • Specific advanced trail skills sessions to build your techniques like manuals and jumping
  • Two nights accommodation at the award winning Star Bunkhouse in the village of Bwlch. An ideal base to explore the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park on two wheels. To enjoy this weekend you will be at least an intermediate mountain biker, riding for over a year, who is looking to progress your riding, experience a new type of terrain and explore trails in remote areas. You will be confident with core mountain bike handling skills and proficient with operating your bike on different terrains and at trail centres on ‘blue’ graded routes. The variety of trails we will be riding on this weekend will include features such as roots, rollable drop-offs and loose rocks of varying sizes. You must have your own suitable mountain bike or be hiring one (hybrid bikes are not suitable for this weekend schedule of riding). The rides do contain a number of moderate climbs that will be technical in places, but we will always stay as a group so if you have to get off and push that is fine. Your personal fitness should be at a level where you feel comfortable in the saddle for at least 3 hours per day at a social and comfortable pace. You must be over 16 years-old to participate on this trip.
