Meet the team

Hannah

Hannah

Owner, Mountain bike coach and guide

Hannah’s love of the outdoors and in particular mountain biking has taken her to some far flung places in search of trails to ride. Racing internationally in cross-country Hannah’s passion lies in the adventure you can have on two wheels and was the reason behind setting up Beyond the Mud. A qualified mountain bike coach and Pilates instructor Hannah’s goal is to get more people on bikes.

Renee

Renee

Coach

Renee is primarily a Bikeability Instructor teaching school children road safety. Her passion for cycling is long and varied, having competed in Downhill, BMX and now enduro mountain bike racing. Most recently she competed at the Mega Avalanche which is an endurance race, starting on a glacier in the French Alps. Always keen to pass on her knowledge and encourage riders to progress their riding.

Rafe

Rafe

UK Coach and Guide

My name is Rafe, I have been riding bikes since I was 10 years old, I started racing at 15 with Pedal Hounds, then Southern Enduro, British and Welsh National enduros and the Megavalanche in 2019. I love coaching and getting people out on their bikes to explore the great outdoors. I love being up in the mountains and my favourite place to ride is Cwmcarn in South Wales.

Emyr

Emyr

Mountain Bike Guide

Originally from Wales, now living in the South Downs Emyr started out his mountain biking journey on big bouncy bikes doing downhill. Since  then he has competed in mountain bike cross country as well as endurance events such as the 12 hour solo at Torq. Emyr is also Hannah’s ‘better’ half!

An architect in the day when he is not working or riding bikes he is running around after our little girl Ffion!

James

James

Coach

James played, coached and managed inline roller hockey into his twenties. After taking some time away, enjoying life, getting married and having kids he ended up finding cycling to keep fit. Initially just a ‘roadie’ he ended up rekindling his youth getting a mountain bike. Transferring fitness from the road to the dirt was quite easy; learning the technical skills for the muddy stuff was another story.

In autumn 2018 he started studying for a degree in Sports, Fitness and Coaching.

Jez

Jez

Mountain Bike Coach and Guide

I’ve been riding the South Downs for as long as I can remember, but have been a primary school teacher for the past twenty years, and more recently coaching biking of all ages at Ditcham Park, as well as Bushcraft and forest schools. Teaching has also allowed me to live in Germany and Canada, where I got to ride some amazing trails (including dodging rattlesnakes). I love encouraging others to get on their bikes as much as possible.

Luna

Luna

Chief trouble maker and bag checker

Trail dog, I love sniffing and running. I enjoy playing ball but am highly unlikely to give you the ball back! I help out by checking everyone has the right kit in their bags, I am not nosey just investigating!
